Sheep and Shepherd | Encounter with God

My sheep know my name,

The Saviour said.

Mentioning that He was the good Shepherd and we HIs sheep

So I started thinking about sheep

Having helped out during lambing

made me realise how true this is.

Sheep know the person who looks after them

They recognise the voice.

When someone different comes along,

Fear comes into their eyes & you can almost hear them say

'Who are you and what do you want'

You could be genuine, but I'd prefer to be cautious and back away.

I will also tell the other sheep to beware of you.

But you must be ok, because the Shepherd is here

And he seems to accept you.

Hmm, I'll still keep my distance if you come close.

But where are you taking my new born baby

I need to follow, that's my baby, I don't want it to get lost.

You've taken us to a safe place, and you've given us food and water.

I heard the Shepherd say take care of them, for they are valuable to me.

Hmm, my Shepherd is so good to me .

I feel so comfortable in his presence.

He talks to me and looks after me.

I know he will look after baby too.

The Shepherd knows every one of his sheep,

He knows their personalities and how they react.

He makes sure they are kept well, he genuinely cares for them.

just like the great shepherd Jesus.

He knows His sheep

He knows each of us by name

What we are like and how we react.

He gives us the best food, His Word

He walks with us through the storms of life.

He laughs with us and sings with us.

And then at the end of our earthly life,

He's waiting for us to take us home.

Jesus is the Son of God, but He is also our Friend.

Can we ask for more?
